As the wheel turns towards Autumn, I find myself reflecting on how my witch first began to emerge.

A black book lay on the coffee table. Nothing remarkable about that. But for the words emblazoned across it.
WITCH
It pulled me in instantly. Something inside me stirred. But I didn’t dare look at it, let alone touch it.
And of course my masculine tried to distract me. He didn’t want me to have anything to do with a book like that.
My feminine had others ideas though. She ordered the book. And when it arrived she opened the cover to scan the chapter titles and knew instantly what her witch archetype was.
Sorceress.
It all made sense in a strange kind of way. The years of being fascinated by the dark, but avoiding doing anything that might jeopardise my good girl conditioning due to my religious upbringing.
In that moment I got lost in the magic of sitting in circle, head to toe in black, cauldron on the fire, communing with Hecate, energy flowing through my hands, feeling at long last that this was a place I truly belonged.
And so it began…

Accepting you’re a witch takes time. Just like your nervous system takes time to catch up when you make changes in the way you live your life, like slowing down in menopause, letting your witch out is no different. It changes your life, your outlook, your raison d’etre, your everything.
You may have always felt it. I didn’t.
I didn’t see it coming!
Up until this point I was just being me, lifing as best as I could. Doing all the ordinary things. I went to work, shopped, cleaned, nodded at polite conversation, avoided questions I didn’t want to answer, and pretended I had it all together. Because it felt like I did.
Until I didn’t.
But still I tucked the strange, restless part of me I’d started to feel into the corners where no one would see, because I’d always felt the need to fit in. Which in itself is ironic, because I now know I was always meant to stand out. I knew deep within my soul that I was meant for something other than being an accountant, yet I couldn’t quite see what it was.
I’d spent so much time in my life in my head that it was hard for me to open the doors to my calling, because I couldn’t see where the destination was; the goal; the purpose. Living in an imbalance of masculine energy had left its mark on me, and I really didn’t know how to trust in myself.
But when you don’t know how to trust, something strangely beautiful happens… your soul steps in. She helps guide you. She sends you people and events to test you, to help you see where the gaps are that you need to fill.
I was about a year in on my witch journey and I was gifted a situation where I was shown the opposite of the witch energy that was always my destiny. This was truly challenging for me, and I soon realised that not every person you meet on the way, not every event you attend, not every situation you find yourself in will be right for you. But in a sense they are the right things because they direct you back to your path.
It was in moments like that – when the path seemed uncertain, and the GPS of life needed resetting – that I began to notice the patterns that kept me grounded, helped me trust my own rhythm, and reminded me how to live the life I was being drawn towards. Over time, these became more than habits or choices; they became a living language for my witch, a way to navigate life with presence, courage, and clarity.
I call them The Alchemy of Rhythms – a series of guiding principles that don’t tell you what to do, but offer a way to move through life with awareness and self-trust. They are woven together, like threads in a tapestry, and each one carries its own magic – when practiced in concert, they transform not just your days, but the way you inhabit your life, your body, and your power.
1. Tread gently – this is the path of the feminine energy; lean into the flow; allow it all to unfold in its own time; neither rush nor push.
2. Fear not – the universe will not send you anything you’re not capable of holding; everything will come to you when you’re ready for it.
3. Stay in your own lane – the pathways that others follow are not yours to take, only to observe and learn from; you will walk your own path; allow yourself to be self-led.
4. Surrender expectations – your rejections are mere redirections to something better; what’s for you is even greater than you could ever have imagined.
5. Create space – in all areas of your life; nothing grows where there’s no room to breathe; just like a baby needs space in the womb to grow into itself.
6. Slow down – speed fractures awareness, the pause restores it; presence lives in the pause where insight sharpens, intuition speaks, and clarity settles; when you rush, you override your inner knowing.
7. Be intentional – every choice carries energy; move with awareness rather than habit; when you act deliberately, speak consciously, and choose in alignment with your own rhythm, your witch strengthens.
8. Allow yourself grace – give yourself space to stumble, to try, to learn; each misstep carries insight if you let it; perfectionism is a myth; there is nothing to get right.
9. Be patient – you are exactly where you need to be; growth often happens quietly, in the spaces we cannot see; just like a seed, your witch needs some darkness to gather her power and to deepen her knowing before she asks for light.
10. Embrace emotions – they are signals, guides, and teachers; notice them with neither judgment nor resistance; let them move through your body naturally – in laughter, tears, voice, or movement; feeling them is how you deepen and evolve.
11. Dare to dream – your dreams are the whispers of your soul, nudging you toward the life you are meant to live; do not dismiss them as impossible; allow yourself to imagine freely; hold your visions gently, and let them guide your choices.
We are quiet, gentle soul witches who need nurturing, less noise, and room to breathe so our magic can unfold in its own time. Your witch WILL stretch you sometimes – and that’s a gift. Trust where she is taking you; she knows best. There is no need to fear her, only to listen, honour, and follow.
Remember, being a witch is not about perfection or performance. It’s about presence, curiosity, and courage. It’s about returning to yourself again and again, leaning into your rhythms, and allowing your magic to reveal itself at its own pace.
I am a witch, a wise woman, a healer. This is my calling. And with every step, every pause, every choice, I am learning to inhabit it fully – without fear, without apology, without rush.
With love 💫
